Congenital Muscular Torticollis

Tilted or Turned Head — Does your baby tend to hold their head tilted or turned to one side most of the time? It's not just cosmetic and we can help!

Torticollis Rehab

Torticollis sounds awful but literally means "twisted neck". We are seeing a lot of infants with a tendency toward holding their heads turned in one direction, tilted to one side, or both!

Your baby also may dislike tummy time. This can cause their heads to flatten on one side, problems with using one side of the body, and difficulty sitting and rolling to both sides.

The earlier this condition is treated the better — 2 months or less is ideal — but we can help even if your baby is older. Call today!

Signs to Watch For

Head consistently tilted or turned to one side
Resistance or discomfort during tummy time
Flattening on one side of the head
Difficulty turning head equally in both directions
Preference for one side when feeding or sleeping
Asymmetry in rolling, sitting, or reaching
Pediatric specialist examining infant head shape

Plagiocephaly

Occasionally, infants still need a bit of help shaping their heads. We will work closely with you to determine if, and when, a helmet is needed.

The final decision to use one or not is entirely up to you. Our role is to guide, inform, and support you through every step of the process.
